I'm Still Alive! - Ory update

(ok this looked perfect on the templete - but I could not get it right on the preview. - Sorry - for exact prices - please email me - they are not matching up - ugh) :(
Yes I am still alive! Once Ory started marching band, life became crazy.
I now have a daughter that is in her first year in college - loving doing all of her artwork (she is a art major) and Ory is a Sophomore in High School.
This blogpost is going to be about Ory. He has been chosen to along with 35-40 youth from the United States and Canada to go to Nairobi, Kenya this summer for a two week mission trip. Now this is not just any mission trip. This is a mission trip for 100 youth for the Church of the Nazarene that feel called to be Missionaries. He is the only from our district that is going! We are so excited and proud of him!!!! Let me tell you a little bit about what he will be doing! Each day they will emphasize four main phases: Discover, Develop, Deploy, and Debrief
Discover - a mixture of prayer time, personal and/or group devotions, and small group Bible study, to start each day centered on Jesus.
Develop - time to hear and learn from missionaries and ministry leaders, preparing for the service taking place that day.
Deploy - traveling to sights around Nairobi or the ANU (Africa Nazarene University) campus to apply what was learned in the Discovery and Develop parts of the day. Practical experiences that could range from painting walls at Central Nazarene Church or observing at the Woodley School in the Kibera slums to playing soccer with the NYI students from the greater Nairobi metropolis.
Debrief - time each night spent journaling or in small group discussion processing the day's events and capturing what Christ has taught us.
Sundays will be times of rest and worship. On Wednesday, they will get to go on a safari! On the last Saturday will be Youth Day on the campus of ANU. African NYI youth from all over Nairobi will come to fellowship, feast and have fun playing games and worshiping together. The final day, Sunday will be a time of serving Christ through Sabbath worship. They will gather one last time in preparation to leave Africa, sharing what they learned during this event, will have communion together and participate in a dedication service, committing their lives to serve Christ where ever He leads in the future. Now doesn't that sound AWESOME!!!!! They have given us an awesome fundraising opportunity. There is a gentleman that is the NYI coordinator for the countries of Kenya, Uganda & Tanzania. For more than 10 years he has helped hundreds of African youth pay for their secondary and college education by making African necklaces. Each necklace is worth between $10 - $30. Here are pictures of the different necklaces:

The brown seeds are found in the Eastern province of Kenya and are not edible so the best thing to do for the locals are to make beads with them.

Off-White bead - the seed from the plant from the pumpkin family but the fruit is a little longer and skinnier then the pumpkin, it is also not edible but has a part that is used in making bathing towels and the seeds used in making neck

1 inch long beads are batik bone.

Most of the pendants like cross and other animal carvings are made out of bones or ebony wood or rosewood.

If you are interested in buying one of these necklaces - email me at bama_312000@yahoo.com

Please be praying for Ory as he prepares for this once in a lifetime trip.

Thanks for your support!
